The Republican party replaced Elizabeth Cheney as Conference Chair with Elsie Stefanik, a New York Representative. The change was made primarily due to Cheney’s fixation on former President Trump and her unfounded claim that Trump caused the attack on the U.S. Capitol and Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was obtained through fraudulent means.
Stefanik says she will lead the party with his vision to bring back the Republican majority in the 2022 Congressional elections.
Meanwhile, Cheney appeared on Fox News today and continued her tirade against Trump and even claimed that Senator Kevin Owen McCarthy, Republican House Minority Leader, was not leading with principle.
Election fraud claims in various courts never rose to the level where a party could make a legally persuasive showing that fraud altered the election’s outcome. These results never stood for the proposition that fraud did not occur; it appeared to be a matter of degree and insufficient pre-hearing persuasion.
