The 26-year-old Houston resident was found this past Saturday by city workers, according to the Houston Police Department and KHOU 11.
Sharkey’s nude body, which had no noticeable wounds, was spotted on the side of the I-10 service road close to a four-star hotel and just three miles from her apartment, which is right off the same thoroughfare where she’d been found, according to police and records.
Sharkey was apparently having issues and often posted about her husband, Tom Sharkey, whom she married last year, KHOU 11 reported. “Recently, she opened up to us about it, and a divorce was being filed,” Tanya Ricardo, one of Alexis’ best friends, told the outlet Monday, the nypost.com reported.
The sister of Alexis Sharkey said she was a smart, savvy, successful businesswoman. That’s how I want everyone to remember her. During the conversation, Robinault also revealed that she is still in denial but believes that foul play was involved in her sister’s death.
Friends of Alexis Sharkey have spoken about their concerns for her shortly before her death, saying they believed she was murdered.
Lauren Breaux, Ally Cale, and Courtney Ehninger, all Sharkey’s friends, have spoken about how she was fearful for her life leading up to her death.
“We don’t know what happened. We obviously have had ideas. We believe she was murdered, absolutely,” Breaux told ABC13, Newsweek reported.
Alexis’ husband, Tom Sharkey, has received death threats following the news of his wife’s passing.
Tom Sharkey disputed claims that the marriage was on the rocks, telling ABC13: “She wasn’t happy. She was stressed. I would cuddle her to try to make her strong. She was an amazing woman. Sir, my wife, was an amazing woman, Newsweek reported.
The investigation continues.
