A six-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his three-year-old brother Saturday night in Chicago. The revolver involved was owned by the boy’s father, Michael Santiago, and he has since been charged with felony child endangerment causing death. Chicago police say he kept a loaded gun on top of a refrigerator, and was a former member of the Spanish Cobras gang and had bought the gun from a gang member for protection. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, he had previously testified at the trial of another gang member and was labeled a “snitch”, according to prosecutors at today’s bail hearing. Judge James Brown set bail relatively low at $75, 000 and remarked, “This is the ultimate tragedy. I’m sure the defendant didn’t intend for this to happen, but it did happen”. Santiago did not have any prior felony convictions. The kids were playing cops and robbers when the gun discharged striking Eian Santiago in the head as he was eating a bowl of macaroni and cheese.
