English study shows some fascinating facts about our cats during these stay-at-home times

Because more people than ever are working from home, those who have pets are increasingly exposed to their presence and learning.

For example, a study by Cats Protection revealed that cat owners said their cat was calmer than usual, was more comedic, and seemingly assumed the position of a co-worker.

A summary of their detailed study reveals many interesting facts from up-to-date cat statistics on everything from aging to allergies.

“Of those questioned, 63 percent said their cat calmed them down, while 56 percent said they were less lonely because of them.

More than half (53 percent) said they had witnessed their cat doing something comedic, such as walking across the laptop while working, that had cheered them up.

And, instead of a lunchtime natter with deskmates, some are even turning to their cat for a pep talk, with four out of ten people saying they discussed work problems with their moggy.

Gina Akers, who recently judged Cats Protection’s Alternative Cat Awards, said: ‘My cats, Sunny and Star, sit next to me during the times when I am working.

Sunny has learned to swipe through images on my laptop or phone until he finds a picture he likes, while Star will steal the pens off my desk.

‘They never fail to brighten up my working day,’” the Mirror reports.
