AT LEAST THREE SHOTS FIRED THE CHIEF SAYS
Two officers. ages 32 and 41, were shot in front of the Ferguson police department where demonstrators had gathered in the wake of the city police chief’s resignation early this morning. The men are in serious condition but “conscious” according to St. Louis Police Chief Jon Belmar and Yahoo News.
One officer was shot in the face and the other in the shoulder and they were rushed to the hospital although the injuries are not considered life threatening. At this point, the chief was unable to provide details about the shooter or shooters other to surmise that the shots were “directed exactly at my officers”, he said. The shots are believed to have originated from the top of a hill approximately 220 yards from the police station. One officer was assigned to the St. Louis Police Department and the other with the Webster Grove Police. The chief said “at least three shots were fired” according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
