Brenda Delgado was captured April 8th, 2016 after she fled the jurisdiction of the United States. The 33-year-old woman was wanted for her role in the first-degree murder of Dallas dentist, Dr. Kendra Hatcher (35) who was shot inside a parking garage in Dallas on September 2, 2015.
Delgado had been placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list and had been on the run for about seven months before she was arrested in Torreon, in Northern Coahuila state without incident. Hatcher had been dating Delgado’s ex-boyfriend and it is believed that Delgado helped to arrange the murder– she was not the trigger person.
She remains in Mexico City where extradition proceedings are pending. Reports indicate that her lawyers were planning her surrender before her arrest when Mexican authorities rushed in and arrested her. It is unclear whether the death penalty was taken off the table in exchange for her consensual return to the states.
Update: Delgado was convicted of capiital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
