Police Officer, Todd Besser
A Minnesota police officer and his 27-year-old son were killed yesterday in what has been described as a domestic dispute. Elk River, Minnesota officer Todd Besser (49), and his son, Blake Besser (27) died from gunshot wounds apparently inflicted by a younger son, Christopher Besser (21) at their St. Michael home. The Wright County Sheriff’s Department posted on their website that a 911 call came in from a male, on May 9th at 7:06 p.m., reporting that he had been shot. When they responded to the residence, they discovered that the two men were deceased. 39 minutes later, they received a call from Christopher that he was at a nearby gas station and wanted to turn himself him to Wright County authorities- he was arrested, and booked into the Wright County Jail on second-degree murder charges without incident. The officer had just finished his shift 45 minutes earlier. The residence was occupied by Besser’s three sons; the father had remarried and lived in another town. The matter is under investigation, and the Wright County Attorney’s office is considering what formal charges should be filed. Elk River is located 40 minutes from Minneapolis.
