OKLAHOMA TEACHER GIVES STUDENT A “98%” IN ENGLISH EXAM SHE IS CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX WITH
See Update Below.
An Oklahoma teacher was charged with rape in connection with her sexual activities with her student; she allegedly gave the student an extra high grade in an English exam when the student had previously had trouble passing the exam. Kalyn Thompson (25) was charged with second-degree rape and taken to the Creek County Jail where she posted $35,000 bail. The charges were filed in May and police believe she had sex with the student on at least two occasions, once in Hayburn Lake in Creek County, and once in a Tulsa, Oklahoma hotel. They also believe she had sent sexual text messages to the student. Thompson had resigned from Kellyville High School in April (a suburb of Tulsa) during the investigation of the incidents. Although the age of consent in Oklahoma, for most sexual purposes is 16, the age limit is increased when students and teachers are involved. All defendants are presumed innocent of all charges.
UPDATE: A 25-year-old teacher, Kalyn Thompson, was sentenced to a year in prison.
