OREGON GOVERNOR JOHN KITZHABER AND CYLVIA HAYES MAY HAVE TO LEAVE THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION BUT THEY NOW HAVE TIME TO PRIVATELY SHARE TRUE LOVE

Oregon Governor, John Kitzhaber (67) announced his resignation as governor Friday amid accusations over possible influence-peddling involving his office and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes (47). The resignation takes place next Wednesday. Rumors have been festering for months that Hayes has been using her political influence for financial gain regarding an environmental consulting business; essentially, she is being accused of taking money as a consultant, possibly as much as $200,000 in payments from green nonprofits to work on low-carbon fuel standard policies the governor’s office was involved in at the time, and then using her position as the “First Lady” to influence the Gov.; he is being accused of, at a minimum, of mishandling the situation. Ethics and criminal investigations have been opened. The press has been having a field day over all of this partly because Hayes is very attractive, twenty years younger than the Gov., and she has a checkered past; it has been reported that she is the founder of 3EStrategies, a clean energy consulting firm, that she once accepted $5,000 to marry an Ethiopian immigrant in order to grant him legal status in the United States, and that she was involved in a scheme to purchase a state property for the purpose of turning it into an illegal marijuana growing operation. Hayes has been divorced three times, in 2001, 1996 and 1989.
COMMENT: It is quite common for women to marry older men, some may do it for money, some for true love. Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise- she was 27, and he was 43. Anna Nicole Smith was 26 and J. Howard Marshall was 89. Who is to know for sure what motivated these younger woman to marry these older men. What can be said about the relationship between the Gov. and Hayes is that by all accounts, she is very pretty and seemingly intelligent- and but for the circumstances, it appears that the old Gov. did pretty well for himself. The French are fond of saying that “personal love is a matter of private business”- it appears that this will be the case after Wednesday for the couple. We really do wish them well.
