A 39-year-old physical education teacher, Joy Morsi, from Massapequa, New York who taught at Grover Cleveland high school in Ridgewood, Queens (New York), has been charged with 20 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct (rape) and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Her next court appearance is set for June 23rd, and if convicted, she faces up to 4 years in prison. According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, she engaged in multiple acts of sexual activity with one of her 16-year-old students between June 5th and July 24th in 2013. Some of the encounters allegedly happened in the basement and other locations within the school. There are also allegations of the teacher sending the student emails asking if he was a virgin and messages containing explicit sexual images. According to recent reports, the teacher became very upset when she learned that the student was taking a girl to the prom. Morsi pled not guilty to this offense. Morsi is presumed innocent of all charges.
The Queens gym teacher who had sex with two underage students won’t face any jail time long as she completes a year of mental-health treatment.
Joy Morsi, 40, pleaded guilty in Queens Supreme Court Friday to one count each of rape and criminal sexual act charges and will have to attend an out-patient program for a diagnosed depressive disorder, according to the Queens DA’s Office.
The married mom of four will then receive 10 years probation following completion and will have to register as a sex offender.
Morsi, of Massapequa, Long Island surrendered her teaching license Friday as a result of the trysts with the two students at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood. Source: New York Post
