According to police reports, a 14-year-old boy, Eldon G. Samuel, III, shot his dad- killing him- then stabbed and hacked his brother to death with a machete this week in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; the boy had allegedly planned the murder for several months. Police identified the victims’ as Eldon Samuel, Jr. (46), the defendant’s father, and Jonathan Samuel (13), his brother. The police questioned Eldon shortly after the murders and said he had expressed no remorse. He said his dad was on medication and acting strange and had fired a pistol in the air when the two then struggled; Eldon wrestled the gun away and shot him in the stomach. As his dad crawled away, he shot him in the cheek and temple; next, he located his brother who was hiding and killed him using a knife and machete. He told the police he enjoyed playing “Grand Theft Auto 5”, a video game containing graphic violence. Apparently, he particularly liked the character “Trevor” depicted in the game which he described as being “kinda cool” and the type who liked to shoot people. It appears that the state will attempt to try him as an adult. He remains in jail with a million-dollar bail.
