Republicans Move 2020 Convention to Florida- Republican Says Dem Gov. Roy Attempted to “Sabotage” Trump’s Campaign
Jacksonville, Florida, has been selected to host the 2020 Republican National Convention. The event initially was to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, Democratic Gov. Roy, some say, was essentially threatening to block the event over coronavirus concerns.
Cooper couldn’t guarantee that the Republicans would be permitted to fill the arena. After hearing about Cooper’s hesitations, Trump tweeted last week that he would move the convention to another city. He made good on his word.
U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop, a Charlotte Republican, said, “Cooper just used the Coronavirus to cancel President Trump’s Republican National Convention and attempt to sabotage the president’s re-election campaign.”
A few of the scheduled events will still occur in Charlotte; however, the cancellation cost the city millions of dollars. Jacksonville authorities are very pleased over the move.
