Woody Allen: The #MeToo movement has created a “witch hunt atmosphere … where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself”.

We are rapidly approaching a “NOTHING” (No Touch, Hugs, Interaction, Nuances Guileless) society.

Woody Allen contracted with Amazon to promote and sell four of his movies, including  Allen’s film “Wonder Wheel,” and his yet-to-be-released film, “A Rainy Day in New York.”

When Amazon decided to back out of the deal, Allen responded with a $68 million breach of contract lawsuit. Amazon has countered by arguing that the director’s controversial comments over allegations of sexual abuse and the #MeToo campaign were responsible for the failure of his films, and justified their ending the multi-picture deal they had agreed with him, The Guardian reports.

OUR FREE OPINION

Allen reportedly said,  when referencing Harvey Weinstein, that the #MeToo movement has created a “witch hunt atmosphere … where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself”.

Some actors and actresses are boycotting his films and productions. We agree that the goofy #MeToo lunge has gone too far and causes more damage than good. Allen’s characterization of the movement as a “witch hunt is accurate. Most Americans are tired of the group’s outrageous and unfettered attacks on decent people.

The are no bright line tests or rules that govern conduct that falls short of sexual harassment or criminal behavior. A person has to guess whether a hug or a light kiss violates the new definition of improper interaction between a woman and a man. Joe Biden is a classic example of a good citizen who has fallen prey to the witch hunters.

We are rapidly approaching a “NOTHING” (No Touch, Hugs, Interaction, Nuances Guileless) society.
